Do you ever run events live that you wish you could reach a far greater audience?
I recently had the great luck to meet a local Calgary business man, Kersten Kloss from Refreshed IT who has built a web portal that allows companies to show presentations live over the Internet.
Kersten built this portal for a client who sold investments to people. Typically the company that he was hired by would invite people to an event at a hotel where the CEO would give a sales pitch to the audience. This worked well, but one of the problems that they had was that there was a lot of no shows to these event and they wanted to grow their revenues. One option was to hold additional seminars, which was costly. The other option was to try to see what they could do online.
Kersten was hired to create a portal that allowed the CEO to be filmed and presented to an audience via the Internet. This now gave people the opportunity to attend events right from the comfort of their office or home.
In addition to this, the portal also allowed people to download information about the investments, ask questions, see a presentation, request further information and if the event was recorded, they could watch the event when it worked for them.
According to Kersten’s website this portal allows you to: “Plan, schedule, manage and deliver compelling interactive live web events that are fully integrated into your own social netwok. Include live video, webcams, desktop sharing, quizzes, file exchange, chat shoutboxes, question forms, support forums, subject groups, break out video confeences and many more interactive features that keep audiences focused by engaging them with interactive dialogue.”
This was a brilliant idea as it opened up a whole new market to the investment firm and now adds an additional revenue stream for them. By my calculations, this company is now adding millions of dollars in investment sales that they were never getting before. The return on investment on this portal is significant.
Here is a video overview of the portal so that you can get a better understanding:

The Training Approach: These interesting thing about this portal view is that companies can also be used for training individuals in a company where is would otherwise be cost prohibitive. For example, let’s say you are a large industrial supply company who sells lots of different products. Your company depends on your sales reps knowing everything there is to know about your product you sell. Why not bring in companies to give presentations to your sales reps so that they are up to speed on the product and can position it better with clients.
If you want to find out more about this portal and how it can help your business, I can get an introduction to Kersten for you. Feel free to contact me at chris@salestipaday.com and let me know that you want to find out more information on the portal.
What do you think?
- Would you be able to utilize a portal like this to sell more products?
- Have you ever used an approach like this in the past?
